How to Make Your Own DIY Shampoo
If you are having a hard time finding a shampoo that cleans, moisturizes and detangles hair, you may want to try creating your own. After continuous product sampling, I have come to terms that the most basic ingredients works best.
I’ve been using apple cider vinegar to wash my hair but I was really wanting more of a shampoo feel so I decided to add the following:
In an 4 0z bottle mix:
(You may use a 8 0z or larger bottle but make sure your measurements stay the same).
¾ of Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ of Dr. Bronner’s soap (lavender) (you may use any organic soap that you are comfortable with or Dr. Bronner’s additional scents)
1 capful of almond oil
1 capful of Vitamin E or coconut milk
Final Outcome:
My hair felt super, duper clean and was left with no residue. It was not squeaky clean yet shiny and moisturized due to the oils that I put in it. It was easy to detangle due to the apple cider vinegar. It also calms the itching if you suffer from itchy, dry scalp.
Helpful Tip: Flaxseed oil aids in relieving itchy scalp. So, you can also substitute one of the oils above with this one instead.

Although the mixture is still not the consistency of a shampoo or doesn't lather like one, it does clean the scalp wonderfully. You can always add more Dr. Bronner's soap if you want extra lather. Just make sure that you are not stripping the hair. Dr. Bronner's soap is very strong and needs to be diluted. To read more about it, click here.
