Product Review: Shea Moisture Kids Extra-Moisturizing Detangler

It’s wash day for your tender-headed child. It’s a monotonous task. You dread the crying, shifting, tugging and screaming for them to sit still while you endlessly untangle, comb and braid their hair.

The new detangling spray, by Shea Moisture, is a light, conditioning spray. It instantly detangles and causes the comb to easily glide through thick, coarse hair with ease. It can be used on dry or wet hair.

It is from the coconut and hibiscus product line (Orange label). The main ingredients consists of coconut, hibiscus, slippery elm and marshmallow extracts. Who would have known marshmallows would be a key ingredient in a beauty product!

Of course, if you are familiar with the Shea Moisture line, you will already know that there is no sulfates, parabens and other harmful chemicals in the ingredients.

I’ve used the product twice and was pleasantly pleased with the results. It made for a drama free shampoo day. It did untangle my knots and snarls with ease. It does not feel greasy or sticky. It also does not leave a residue on the hair. I did not even have to use a lot of the product. Just a few pumps on each section of hair, did the job. It also restored moisture back into my hair. I feel it was 100 times better than the Shea Moisture Extra Moisture Detangler.

It has a light, misty sprayer which gently disperses the product evenly. It also has a soft, pleasant scent (a slightly different fragrance) than the shampoo. It has a sweet, like candy scent (must be the marshmallows), yet the fragrance does not linger.

I followed up with the Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Thickening Leave-in Conditioner (Green label). I will follow up with a review on this product in the near future.

Overall, my hair was soft, shiny and manageable. Three essentials that any screaming child should have at the end of their comb out.
